USCG Approved Courses and Workbooks
The primary service provided by Columbia Pacific Maritime is stated in our
mission statement "...to provide approved training courses for Merchant
Mariner Credential endorsements for the deck department...". To meet this
mission statement we maintain fifteen National Maritime Center approvals for
courses that meet the exam requirements for the original issue or upgrade
of Able Seaman, Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessel (OUPV),
Master/Mate 200 tons or less, Master/Mate of Fishing Vessels, Apprentice
Mate (steersman) of Towing Vessels and radar observer.
All course workbooks may be purchased prior to taking the course so that
students may preview the material and prepare for a successful class. If you
purchase a workbook prior to taking the class bring it with you on the first
day of the class to receive full credit towards the cost of the class.
These workbooks have also been purchased by mariners to prepare for
taking the exams at an REC and by other training institutions to serve as
model courses.

Consulting Services
I also provide consulting services for Merchant Mariner Credential
applications, open book renewal exams and curriculum development for
approved courses.
Application Consulting ($50 / Free to enrolled students)
A basic consulting session includes review of the application package to
insure all forms are completed correctly and the application package includes
all the required documentation. This takes about 30 minutes. Additional
consulting services is billed at the rate of $50 per hour.
Open-Book Renewal Exam Consulting ($50)
The renewal exam is an open book exam that the Coast Guard will mail to
you and give you 30-days to complete using all resources available to you. I
am a resource available to you. This consulting can be done in person or via

Curriculum Consulting ($50/hour)
If you are looking to purchase a model course for a deck endorsement for
vessels less than 200 tons I recommend my course workbooks. They can be
purchased from this website and have been used by several approved
schools and universities for this purpose. I can also provide custom
curriculum for many USCG approved courses. You will receive these courses
turn-key and ready for submitting to the National Maritime Center for
