Endorsements
The addition of an endorsement as Assistance Towing
or Auxiliary Sail Vessels to your existing officer
endorsement will increase the authority of your
credentials.
Assistance Towing Endorsement
The Assistance Towing Endorsement authorizes the
mariner to engage in commercial assistance towing
within the authority of the credential. This endorsement
does not require any qualifying sea service experience
and may be added to any endorsement as OUPV,
Master or Mate of 200 tons or less.

Auxiliary Sail Endorsement
The Auxiliary Sail Endorsement can be added to an
officer endorsement as Master or Mate to include sail
and auxiliary sailing vessels under the authority of your
credential. This endorsement requires that the mariner
document qualifying experience on sail or auxiliary sail
vessels. The total experience required depends on the
endorsement requested.

- Master near coastal or all oceans requires 12
months experience on sail or auxiliary sail vessels. - Master inland requires 6 months experience on
sail or auxiliary sail vessels. - Mate Inland or Near Coastal requires 3 months
experience on sail or auxiliary sail vessels.
